Hi, I'm a newby.
First of all I'm sorry if my english is not so correct.
I'm very interested of the circuit which emulate cd changer over ip-bus.
I want to make an Mp3 player which stores songs on an hard disk and to be able to control it by my pioneer DEH-P7300R HU.
I know it is possible because I saw somebody have done it yet, but I've get lost too many times during the search of what I have to buy, which is the circuit and how to make it work.
Could you help me?

Hi Vitat,
you're my only hope.
Can you tell me where I can find the circuit of the emulator, the list of components to do it,
and (if it is possible) how to interface it to IDE hard disk?
Another thing... are there any firmwares already done to program the device?
Thanks, Dalailama.

Hi Dalailama!

The Cd emulator that Vitat made is not a MP3 player in itself. It only converts signals from the IP-bus standard used by pioneer to standard RS232 serial data that can be used to control a MP3 player. You need to build a MP3 player if you want any music out of it!
I recommend the Yampp3 or Yampp3/USB that you can read more about at: www.yampp.com

There is a few downsides to that though:
- If you want to use the emulator designed by Vitat, you cant use the USB interface on the MP3 (yampp) player. (not yet anyway...)
- The Yampp3 cant play songs with bitrates higher than 224 kbps.

You can find a scematic in this thread: http://www.vitat.spb.ru/forum/index.php/topic,121.0.html (down in the bottom)  It is made in Eagle layout. -And it works!!! Smile

Hope it helps!

Hi,
does anybody know how much does it cost
to make a yampp3/usb (components, etc. etc...) by yourself?

...another thing...
can Vitat's emulator be interfaced with other mp3 player different from yampp3?
or it's exclusively designed for yampp3?
...because the price of yampp3 seems to be bigger than a new car stereo with mp3 player capability!
..even if I like the idea of building something by myself...

If you can modify source code for another protocol of player, why not? Use it with another player.
Price of Yampp3 bigger than Car unit with HDD MP3???

..it seems to be so...
..almost at the first sight..
I've read on yampp3 website that there is a package which contains everythink you need to build yampp3/usb yourself,
it costs about 140? (without screen, keyboard hard disk etc.), plus hard disk and emulator...
With about 200? I can buy a great mp3 car stereo...
...but probably the package is too much expensive than the singles pieces...
I'm going right now to the shop to know how much  do they cost...
I've got no idea  Sad
I hope less than I read... because I wanna try to make it!!  Very Happy
Thanks for advices.

Yes, i see...
I use a 15 MHz Xtal for the vlsi chip, and have enabled the clock doubler in the chip ( = runs at 30 MHz). It plays MP3's up to 320 kbps, but with small errors in the sound... The sound is best with mp3's around 192 - 224 kbps.
------------------------

Any word on if/when the USB ability might be working in the Yampp Pioneer software you made?

I mean: Are you planning on making an update of the code "yampp_pioneer_v2.2" so it will support the USB interface, and YADL disk layout used in the Yampp3 firmware, version 1.30?

I would really like that, cause then I can build it into my car, and put new music on it with a laptop in the car. (without having to unplug the HDD and plug it in to the PC with the 44 pin cable).

Thanks.   Cool

I working on another project now, exclude main work. And very busy...
When I finished , after some weeks, I'll return to mp3 project.
I'll adapt last yadl firmware for working with ip-bus emulator.

I am already make schematic without CAN transeiver and use power source from original yampp3/usb board.
