can i just use simply pin 7 (audio left) and ping 9 (audio right) for connecting a pda. dont need to control it via my car radio. its easier to control it via my pda.
if not, how should i do it then?

May be yes. In many Pioneer car radio you can enable Line-In. And switch to line-in mode.
PS: Don't forget about audio ground.

PDA on Handsfree jack
«

My Pioneer (PEH- or KEH-P4300R) has a Hands-free jack. I like to connect my PDA to it so I tried to just connect audio-out of the PDA to this jack. It didn't work.
Now I understand you need an optional unit for "hands-free".
Does anyone knows what this optional unit does. Can I realise my idea without it, how?
Thanks in advance...

What kind of control can you make with the audio signals?
What is this signal used for?
I thought that these where simple "clean" audio signal.
